There’s no better place

We often celebrate our anniversary when we are on vacation, and I can’t think of a better place to spend our anniversary than at the lake.  We didn’t enjoy a quiet meal together, or a movie, or anything by ourselves for that matter.  Our day consisted of taking fish off of hooks, giving endless tube rides, and washing oodles of sand off of (and out of) our kids’ various body parts: ) The day after our anniversary (Saturday), we did treat the kids to lunch at Zorbaz  (a pizza and Mexican restaurant that you will only find on Minnesota lakes) after the Bleeker’s departed and before the Franken’s arrived. We love Zorbaz!  We love everything about it…the food, the atmosphere, that you can get there by boat, and the fact that it is associated with so many wonderful times and memories.  Here are a few scenic photos of our boat ride over to Zorbaz.  Pictures really can’t capture the beauty of Northern MN.  Yesterday we fished this same part of the lake, just as the sun was rising.  I was overwhelmed at the beauty of the creation and the Creator!

Just before leaving Lake Ida and heading under another bridge to enter Little Sand (where Zorbaz is) we saw an eagle catching its lunch.  It swooped down and picked up a fish in it’s talons and feasted on it in  a tree above us.

Finally arrived at our destination.  Sweet ride, huh?  This boat  is the only boat small enough to navigate through the shallow river and bridges you need to pass through to get there.  This boat is near and dear to our hearts.  It was my grandpas fishing boat.  It is the boat that I learned to ski behind at the age of 9.  It is also the boat that I caught my first Northern in.  If this boat could tell stories, oh the stories it would tell.  I have so many wonderful memories of my grandpa Hank, and many of them involve fishing and this boat.  It is pretty special that my boys (and girls) are getting to make so many wonderful memories in this same boat.  Cade and Bryan have affectionately named it the Green Machine.
