The third week in September Miah was the "star" of her classroom. She made a poster telling about all of her favorite things. It also included pictures and information that her classmates might not have known about her. On Thursday she shared that poster with her class. She could invite family to join her for that time. She was the first one in her class to be the "star" and was a bit nervous about it. Someday she will be thankful that her last name starts with the letter "B". But for now, she is very apprehensive about having to be the first to do everything. She opted to invite just her immediate family. It was such a blessing to be there that day. We listened to her tell about her poster and then got to listen to each of her classmates share why God made Miah special through the form of a book. It brought me to tears listening to her classmates share why they feel God made her special, not to mention the beaming smile on Miah's face as they did so. We also learned a few things about Miah while listening to the book her classmates wrote. We learned that she is the fastest (girl) runner in her class and that she is "very, very good at math". We ended our time at school singing Miah's favorite song and in prayer. As I left school that day, my heart was overwhelmed with gratitude for the teachers, students, and staff at the SCCS. We are so appreciative of the people who love and care for our kids when we are not present.
