We celebrated Willow and Amirah’s birthday’s the weekend after we returned home from Texas. We decided to help ward off our post-vacation blues, by celebrating Texas-style, and sort of extend the vacation excitement with a Texas party. Bryan and I created a slide show of all our vacation pictures to show the birthday party guests. We feasted on burgers, salads, chips and salsa, and of course, sweet tea. It was a perfect way to celebrate two beautiful little girls and a wonderful family vacation filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
These are the facts of Willow’s life:
She 8 years old and in the second grade. She love school. She loves to read and do art. Her best friends are Stella and Ayda. She adores her teacher Mrs. Stoub. She is a morning person and rarely seen without a smile, day or night. She is very slow in the morning and needs some prompting from her brother (and mother) in order to be to school on time. She is a little “scattered” and I find it very endearing because I can relate. She is a good friend to everyone and kids and babies love her. Her favorite foods are pizza, alfredo, and crab rangoon. She is fast…like really fast. She gives the best hugs when you least expect them. She has the softest, smoothest, cheeks, and dry skin everywhere else. It is a thorn in her side. She is getting smarter and wiser everyday. God is growing her and changing her right before our eyes, and for that we are grateful.
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippian 1:6
These are the facts of Amirah’s life:
She is 4 years old and full-of-life! She loves her blankies and her stuffed Pete the Cat. She sleeps dry all night and is starting to like her big girl bed. She loves Little Bear and the Ipad. Her favorite book is Circus Ship, but loves all books. She dribbles her little Iowa Sate basketball everywhere. She loves to shoot on her little hoop. She doesn’t like jeans, and loves leggings. She has two favorite shirts, both of which have puppies on them. Her favorite food is pasta…any kinds will do. She and Hazel snuggle every morning. If you ask her, her best friend is Ryer. Her favorite day of the week, is preschool coop day. She asks several times a week if it is “coop day”. She can write her name and loves to draw. She is shy in public and sticks out her tongue when she is nervous. She is loud and demanding with her family. She gets her way, most of the time. Her siblings adore her and think everything she does is funny, even when it is not. We are working on that. She has 6 tiny freckles on her nose that get kissed about 100 times a day. She is my side-kick during the day and love her company. I can’t imagine my days without her. She thinks that she is going to school someday. We’ll see about that.
Her favorite gift! She was asking me to tape a square on the wall so that she could shoot the ball into the square. I was so sick of hearing that ball bounce on the wall! We decided that this little girl needed a basketball hoop. I am not sure that balls flying past my head and a very large hoop in the middle of my great room are any less annoying, but she is one happy girl. We had a hoop when Caden was little and it was destroyed years ago. I think she is as crazy about basketball as Cade was when he was little!

Who needs brothers when you've got a ball-crazed little sister?! :)
