It was cool and windy again today, but the weather looks to be more promising for boating tomorrow. We didn’t let the wind hold us up today, though. We stayed busy doing everything, but boating…we played Frisbee golf, bocce ball, bean bag toss, shuffle board and kayaked.
Caden also had a big day today. He took his first fishing trip where he was in the drives seat. He asked Grandpa Will if he wanted to go fishing. Grandpa replied with, “Yup, but I am just along for the ride.” He told Cade that he had to get his pole rigged up, find the fishing spot, and get them there and back by himself. That was music to his ears. Grandpa was the perfect person to be in the boat the first time he was in charge. He was struggling to get it started and he worked really hard to get the engine lifted up and down, but Grandpa didn’t move from his seat the entire time. Actually, the above picture captures the trip perfectly. At one point we saw them just zipping from one side of the lake to another. We were wondering if Cade was getting impatient with his choice of fishing spots, but they told us when they got back to shore they were just going for a ride. Cade was pretty proud of his accomplishment. He even docked the boat without any mishaps. It might be awhile before we let he and Nicolas on their own, but it was a step in the right direction. And just a side note for Russ and Nicolas…He still has ALL the line on his reel and didn’t loss any frogs!
