Playtime at the lodge is always a highlight of our weeks at Big Sand. The last several years Ms. Luanne has been the director and has done an amazing job with the kids. She plays organized games with them, takes them on treasure hunts, and does a variety of arts and crafts. Today they were busy painting rock turtles and butterflies when I came in. This morning, they were just on their way back from the tennis courts. They played crazy hopscotch and she taught them a few rules to tennis. I have enjoyed getting to know Luanne over the last couple of years. She has a daughter getting married next week, so it has been fun to hear all about the wedding planning! ![]()

While the little girls were at playtime, Bryan, Cade, Caleb, and myself went to the tennis courts to play a very competitive game of tennis. I think that was my first full game of tennis ever, so you can imagine how well the game was played. We played doubles, Bryan and myself against Caleb and Cade. I feel like I need to include that the old people won!
Cade and Bryan also played a game of singles. It was a friendly match, but Cade wasn’t happy with the outcome.
Today was the annual pontoon fishing ride. Grandpa took the big older kids first and then the little younger kids. It was Romee’s request that she not be included in the little kid group anymore, but rather a younger kid group:)

Willow has had lots of fun with the new Frisbee golf that Dan added to the beach area this year. She and Dave have played several games together this week.
The kids found a toad/frog today with a bummed leg. They are not sure if it was attacked by a fish or what, but his leg is not quite right. They played with him almost all day and let him go this evening. Amirah really didn’t want to let him go.
With a group this big, mealtime is the only time that we are all together at the same time. The rest of the day is spent each doing what he/she enjoys doing. It is such a blessing to all gather together after the day and eat and drink together. Tonight was extra special because Brooke and Lauren made it safely here just in time for supper. They were at a soccer camp for the first part of the week.
